Pi network stands for Pioneer network.
Every cryptocurrency mining is just like Pi mining, it has a half-life attached to it which means that at every periodic time frame the mining rate of the cryptocurrency decreases by half. And the same happens at every interval of time prescribed at the start of the cryptocurrency by the creator. This way the rate of mining the cryptocurrency never goes to 0 instead the number of coins to be mined gets finished at the end. As a matter of fact, the mining of bitcoin will last for 2140, out of the 21 million prescribe from before, 18.5 million have been mined yet. Similarly, for the pie coin, the mining rules are the same the only difference is that you can now mind on your phone with little to no power consumption at all.

Mainnet is the division of pi that has all the included miners in it. The number of minors is ever-increasing every second of the day. The division happened at 10 million miners and the second division will come at a hundred million miners so it is taking the logarithmic scale where anything becomes double or haves when the value increases by 10 times. Currently, each person joining is mining at the rate of 0.1 coins per hour. After it hits 100 million then it would half and when it hits 1 Billion it will further half.

Mainnet represents phase 1 of the Pi coins and when the next milestone is hit or when within the system is ready to take on real-world action they will start phase 2. An important thing to mention is that those users whose accounts are verified will only get the benefit of the pi coins, so verify your account today itself.

Generally, the central authority is maintaining and running the pie coin but after the shut down of phase 1 and starting of phase 2 it will be on its own and the cryptocurrency will be fully decentralized and work just like how bitcoin works.

This whole system acts as a way to do a simple transaction which the government-owned centralized computer won’t be able to do because nobody was there to check it if it does any mistakes.
